This is
the last will and testament of one Jeremiah Heaver the Elder of
Ryarsh in the County of Kent farrier made the twentieth day of
July in the thirty sixth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord
George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain fixture
and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the
year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six. First
and principally I surrender my soul into the hands of Almighty
God my creator hoping to be saved by and through the only ???
and satisfaction of Jesus Christ my saviour and redeemer and my
body I commit to the Earth to be directly interred and buried
by and at the discretion of my executor herein after named. I
give and bequeath unto my dear wife Mary
Heaver and her assigns for and during the term of her natural
life and ??? or yearly payment of eighteen pounds of lawful money
of Great Britain ??? of all taxes or charges whatsoever either
parliamentary or otherwise and to be paid to my said wife by equal
quarterly payments on Lady Day , Midsummer Day, Michaelmas Day
and Christmas Day the first payment to be made on each of those
days of payment as shall first and next happen after my decease
and to be charged on my personal estate and I do order and direct
my son Jeremiah Heaver my executor hereinafter named within one
month next after my decease at his own costs and charges to enter
into, execute and deliver unto my said wife a bond in the penalty
of four hundred pounds conditioned for the one payment of the
said yearly payment of eighteen pounds to my said wife for her
life in manner before mentioned. But in case my said son refuse
or neglect to make ??? and deliver such bond unto said wife for
the space of one month next my decease then and in such case I
give and bequeath to my said wife the sum of four hundred pounds
to be paid unto her within one month next after my decease ??
I give and devise all that my messuage tentement and farm with
the lands and app??tenances there unto belonging situate and lying
in the prishes of Wrotham and Standsted in the said County of
Kent and now in the ??? and occupation of Thomas Parsons his assigns
or ??? unto my said wife Mary Heaver and her assigns for and during
the term of her natural life and from and after her decease unto
my said son Jeremiah Heaver and
the issues of his body lawfully begotten and for default of such
issue unto my daughters Elizabeth Fremlin
and Mary Heaver to be equally
divided between them as tenants in common and to their several
and respective heirs and assigns forever. ??? I give and bequeath
unto my said wife Mary Heaver and her assigns for and during the
term of her natural life sole use and enjoyment of all the furniture
now standing and being in or belonging to the parlour the chamber
and that part of the wash house and pantry behind the parlour
in my dwelling house and I do order and direct that said son Jeremiah
Heaver shall permit and suffer my said wife with her family to
use and occupy that end of my house where in the said rooms are
situate for her life ??? ??? ?? and I also direct him to find
his mother in such for her life. Item I give and bequeath unto
my daughter Mary Heaver the sum of two hundred pounds and fifty
five pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto her
in manner following that is to say five pounds part thereof within
one month next after my decease, one hundred pounds other part
thereof with twelve months next after my decease with interest
at 5% from my decease and one hundred and fifty pounds reminder
thereof within six months next after the decease of my said wife
and I do order and direct my said son Jeremiah Heaver to pay and
allow my said daughter Mary the yearly sum of five pounds from
my decease till such time as she my said daughter shall Mary or
my said wife shall die. Item I give and bequeath unto my said
daughter Elizabeth Fremlin the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds
of lawful money to be paid unto her within six months next after
the decease of my said wife and as to all and every the rest and
residue of my goods and chattels effects and personal estate whatsoever
and wheresoever and of what nature ??? or quality soever that
same be not werein before by me otherwise disposed of after and
subject to the payment of my debts legacies and funeral expenses.
I give and bequeath that same and every part thereof and all my
estate and interest therein unto my said son Jeremiah Heaver his
executors and administrators and I do make nominbate and appoint
my said son Jeremiah Heaver said executor of this my last will
and testament and I do revoke all former wills by me made. In
witness whereof I said Jeremiah Heaver the testator have to this
my last will and testament contained in two sheets of paper set
my hand and seal to wit my handto this first and hand and seal
to last last sheet dated the day and year above written .
